Benedick Miller – Lighting Designer

ben_miller_frameBenedick studied Dramatic Art at Middlesex Polytechnic, London. He learned the nuts and bolts of lighting for the theatre in London’s West End at the Aldwych Theatre, Queens Theatre, Royalty Theatre, The Theatre Royal Bath and on tour with Kent Opera. He has worked as lighting director, designer and programmer on numerous projects in theatre, television, concerts and industrial presentations. He has been involved in creative architectural lighting with Conceptlicht in Traunreut, Germany.

Design credits include “Lang Lang’s 30th birthday concert with Herbie Hancock” at the O2 Arena in Berlin. “The Merchants of Bollywood” World tour – North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia, Asia. “Queen Esther Marrow and the Harlem Gospel Singers and Band”, European tour (associate lighting designer), “A Tribute to Michael Jackson, King of Pop, the Show” European tour, “Madama Butterfly” and “Le Nozze di Figaro” for Internationale Opera Producties, Holland. “Aida” and “Norma” at the Washington Opera. “Die Gaukler Sonate” at the Tollwood Festival in Munich. The original stage production of “The Lord of the Rings” (Sagen om Ringen) at the Svenska Theatre in Helsinki. “Madama Butterfly” at the Arena di Verona Opera Festival. “The Human Body” at the Millennium Dome in London (associate lighting designer).

Further credits include programming and operating the lighting for numerous festivals, concerts and tours, among others “Die Toten Hosen” original “Unsterblich” European tour. Commercial work includes lighting of trade shows and corporate events for Volkswagen cars, Honda motorcycles, General Electric, Roland Berger and many others. He has overseen the European tours of several Broadway musicals including: “Crazy for You”, “42nd Street”, “Aint Misbehavin”, “A Chorus Line”, and also “The Three Tenors” in Europe, USA & Canada.
